Adriana Galabova

When you look at Adriana's work it looks mature but fragile. Who stays behind the delicate paintings in mild tones and the bright and vivid coloured pottery? 

Born in 1965, she has tens of art exhibitions behind her - in Austria, Germany, Great Britain and Bulgaria. But what she really dreamed for was her own place in the heart of Vienna where she could exhibit her works and have contact with art lovers. 

Two years ago this dream came true and now she owns her Atelier where she works on her paintings and pottery but also give children an insight in the world of art giving them the chance to create their own art pieces.

Handmade Pottery

Handmade pottery is so ancient as the urge of humans to keep food and prepare food. It was and still is a basic need for survival. One of the oldest found pottery objects were found in the Czech Republic about 30 000 years ago. 

A potter goes an exciting though long way from the clay to the vessel itself. Preparing the clay is the first stage of work - it needs to be kneaded and de-aired or wedged. Then it's formed to a greenware, a soft and moisture clay object, and  undergoes two different stages of drying until it's ready for its first firing. Only after that the item is ready for decoration and glazing.
